Matthew V. Champagne, Ph.D., President and Co-Founder
Dr. Champagne has served as a researcher, university professor, practitioner,
consultant, and Senior Research Fellow in the areas of learning and
evaluation for over 10 years. He has been expert evaluator for numerous
projects sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, the National
Science Foundation, the U.S. Army Research Institute, and many other
educational and training organizations. Dr. Champagne was founder
and Director of the IDEA Lab, the first laboratory dedicated to the
assessment of web-based distance learning. He has delivered over 30
invited addresses and presentations at national and international
conferences and authored 18 articles and book chapters. His latest
three Handbook chapters, co-authored with Dr. Robert Wisher, are considered
the definitive works on the newest trends for the evaluation of distance
learning and training programs for higher education, industry, government,
and the military. He received his doctorate in Industrial and Organizational
Psychology from Purdue University
Jeffrey P. Nicholas, Ph.D., Vice President, Research
Dr. Nicholas is a noted expert in the application of psychological
principles to workplace issues with an emphasis on program evaluation.
He has published scientific research in major journals and has presented
his research at national and international conferences. Noteworthy
consulting projects include the development and evaluation of an industrial
training curriculum for General Electric and program assessment of
a TQM intervention at Holland Community Hospital in Holland, MI. He
has worked with Research and Training Associates in Saugus, MA and
Carnegie Consulting in Norwood, MA. Dr. Nicholas received his doctorate
in Psychology from Purdue University. Jeffrey O'Donnell,
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. O'Donnell has over twenty years experience in enterprise software,
technology architecture and managing engineering teams. Prior to IOTA,
Mr. O'Donnell ran a full-service software consulting business, with
clients including Westinghouse Nuclear, U.S. Sprint, Mellon Bank,
the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National
Applied Software Engineering Center. He was also founder of Three
Rivers Software, which produced several award winning games for a
variety of personal computer platforms, and was the primary developer
of the award winning MailMax email server product. Mr. O'Donnell was
formerly a Software Engineering Manager for Rockwell International.
Mr. O'Donnell holds a B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh in Mathematics
and Computer Science.
